5 Good Reasons to Choose a Diesel

1. Fewer Fill Ups
Diesel vehicles are more fuel-efficient than those with gasoline powered engines, especially when measured over long distances at highway speed. The higher compression ratio in the diesel power plant, coupled with the ability to burn leaner (a higher air: fuel ratio) means better efficiency. Because diesel fuel contains about 15% more energy by volume than gasoline means that you’ll fill up less frequently.

2. Increased Longevity
Diesel engines last longer than their gasoline counterparts. They’re built more ruggedly in order to withstand the high compression ratios, and so are often still delivering reliable performance long after a gas motor has gone to the automotive graveyard.

3. Clean Diesel
Everyone remembers the diesels of the past – smelly, loud, and slow. Today’s clean diesel technology means that you’ll often have trouble telling a running diesel from a gasoline powered vehicle. Emissions regulations have changed engine technology, and even the fuel itself. Some of the cleanest vehicles on the road are diesels.

4. Turbochargers
Diesel vehicles are known for their ability to provide lots of torque, but not high end power to provide speed, which is why in the past they were used extensively in big trucks and heavy equipment, but not often in passenger vehicles. With the advent of good, reliable turbochargers, this has changed. Sure, your diesel truck can pull out a tree stump unassisted, but it can also provide head-snapping acceleration.

Fleet Care at Western Turbo

At Western Turbo, we can take care of your diesel and fuel injection service needs, no matter how big or small they are.

We started in this business in 1979, with a small shop and a full-service philosophy. Thirty-five years later, we’ve grown to be Winnipeg’s premiere diesel engine service centre, with several divisions and a staff of eighteen people, all concerned with customer care.

We know that our clients depend on their equipment for their livelihoods, and view our role as their service provider as critical to their success. We know that they depend on us to keep abreast of the latest and greatest tools, techniques, and processes in equipment service, and maintain our edge by taking every opportunity to stay current. We’ve been a member of the Association of Diesel Specialists since 1979, and take part in their Repair Standards, Nationwide Warranty, Identification Code, and Technician Certification programs. All of our technicians take part in the ADS “TechCert” program.

Because we’re one the larger service providers, we have capacity to take care of customers who have larger than average needs. We’re able to meet the needs of customers with large fleets of trucks, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, or any combination of vehicles or machines.

Many companies have discovered the value in outsourcing repairs. Western Turbo can help your business save money and headache by being your go-to provider of parts and service for your entire fleet of vehicles and stationary machines.

OilCheckUp

How much money could you save in maintenance costs if you could take the guesswork out of determining the condition of petroleum based fluids? Thousands of dollars are lost, annually from component failure, much of which is linked directly to inadequate lubrication from broken-down petroleum based fluids; still more revenue is wasted by performing unnecessary maintenance. With labour and fluid prices at an all-time high, optimizing the effectiveness of your preventative maintenance program is a necessity, whether you are responsible for one vehicle or one thousand.

Now, you can effectively test the viscosity and condition of petroleum based fluids in all of your cars, trucks, boats, and equipment, while checking for the presence of contaminants, in just one easy step. The Western Turbo OilCheckUp Analysis tool will enable you to test a single drop of engine oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, or gear-lube for condition, viscosity, the presence and degree of sediment and grime, the presence and degree of water or antifreeze, and the degree of saturation from fuel deposits. By dispensing one drop of any petroleum based lubricant onto the special chromatographic test medium you can determine whether or not your vehicle’s vital fluids have reached theirs effective limit, before it is too late.

Using the economical OilCheckUp analysis kit, you can instantly determine the condition of vitally important fluids. After dispensing a single drop of petroleum based fluid onto the test medium, simply compare the pattern on the chromatographic test medium to the reference card (included with the kit). Within five-minutes you will be able to determine if your engine oil needs to be replaced due to excessive sediment and grime from overuse. You will also know if your engine oil is contaminated with antifreeze or water. Blown head gaskets, compromised intake passages, and cracked cylinder blocks/heads can allow antifreeze and water to seep into your engine’s crankcase diminishing your oil’s viscosity and resulting in destruction of engine components. Fuel saturation from leaky injectors or a rich air/fuel mixture can also ruin your oil’s viscosity; test your engine oil now, before it is too late.

The results of the test are easy to decipher, just see for yourself:
